IMC Snowflake Series Round 1

Race Report – IMC Snowflake Series Round 1

Today turned out a damp and wet day for Round 1 of the Irish Minibike Championship 3 round winter series. With no wet track time at all on the new @buccimotosrl BR10 bikes the riders had a lot to learn and find the right setup. Practice got off to a steady start for both riders bedding in new @pmttyres R Slick tyres and learning the grip levels.

Come qualifying both riders were happy with the grip level on the PMT R Slicks to push on. Both riders got off to a steady pace with the group but once they broke free they both managed in lap 4 of 5 to put in their fastest lap.

Peter Willis coming in fastest in the 125cc class and Lewis 5th.

Race 1
Unfortunately Lewis didn’t make the first race. Peter starting at the front got off to flying start. Unfortunately on turn 3 with a falling rider he had to put his MX skills to action and take to the grass. Once back on track he rode a fast pace to get back into 3rd.

Race 2
With both riders on the grid this time and rain still continuing to fall the lights went out and both riders got off to flying start. Peter lead the 125cc class and Lewis was straight into 4th position. On Lap 2 Peter was pushing hard but unfortunately found the limit on turn 5 and dropped it. He was unable to restart due to broken foot peg. Lewis continued to push hard in the wet and riding really well to bring it home in 3rd place.

Race 3
After 3 restarts due a number of crashes and oil at turn 1, Lewis got off to a flying start. Straight into 3rd place hot on the heels of Issac Marks. The rain had stopped briefly at the start of the race allowing for some close racing. Lewis battled hard to the end to finish a well deserved 3rd place. Peter after his early fall in Race 2 finished in 4th place to bring home the points.

So a great finish to the day and for Team WM Racing Bucci Ireland. With pole position, 3 x 3rd place and 4th place and Peter setting the fastest lap of the day in the 125cc class in Race 2 of 1:14:424

Thanks to everyone who helped today and we are looking forward to round 2 in a few weeks.
